I Finally Bought A Pair Of Flats And I Love Them ...

by: AmandaMae

I’ve never been into flats. I’m more than inclined to throw on a pair of heels to dress up an outfit, but given that I walk to work, my feet wouldn’t survive a 2 mile hike in four inch heels. Instead I would opt for Uggs or even *gasp* Birkenstocks. However, with the current winter fashion consisting of dresses/skirts and leggings – Birkenstocks and Uggs just aren’t going to cut it. So my cousin, Ida, finally convinced me to get a pair of flats. With the selection this season I didn’t have to look very far to find a pair of buckled black Franco Sarto flats on clearance at Nordstrom. They are the perfect way to dress up a day-time outfit and still be able to stay walking after more than just a couple blocks.

If you’re like me and feel that flats have a tendency to visually cut legs off, leaving them short and stocky, then I’m about to share with you my epiphany. There is such a thing as heeled flats. During my search, I stopped at the Aldo sale rack and found a cute 1-inch wedged patent black flat. They still held that casual every-day effect yet elongated the legs as heels would.

And not all flats have to look like a pair of ballerina slippers with the ribbons cut off. Nordstrom clearance rack held so many varieties of flats it made your head spin. Jeweled, buckled, patent, shiny metallic ... and quite a few not-so-cute-at-all ones. Flats have become a shiny jeweled bridge that can lead you from day into night ... and back again.

Lancome 'Hypnose Drama' Mascara - Who Needs Fake Lashes?

by: Idabone

I'll admit, I'm somewhat of a Lancome-whore ... both my cousin, Amanda, and I have enough Lancome skin care and cosmetics to open our own boutique. I swear by their Bi-facil make-up remover and love the saturated and numerous colors of lipsticks and Juicy Tubes. While I like almost everything they make (Amanda can't get enough of the Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Lotion, but that stuff makes me eyes burn for some reason), Lancome is most known for their mascara.

In high-school, I started with the classic Definicils and Extencils and then later developed crushes-turned-full-blown-love affairs with the Virtuose and Hypnose both. And now, Lancome mascara has come out with another mind-blowing, lash-pumping mascara that is a new, more effective version of the original Hypnose. ~*Hypnose Drama*~. Imagine Barbie, already gorgeous and has it all. What could make it better to be Barbie? Add some butt implants ... While Hynose reportedly makes your lashes six times longer than usual (*thumbs up*), Hypnose Drama is said to make your lashes sixteen times longer. Holy sh*t.
This may only be semi-amazingly great news to some of you, but for many of my fellow Asian-female bredren, eyes lacking a "double eye-lid" make it hard to attach dark, lush, voluminous false lashes. Now that Hypnose Drama has arrived, that is no longer a problem or worry ... and I never liked the idea of false lashes anyway. A little too much to drink and there they are winking up at you from your vodka cran and that cute guy with the pretty eyes that you were flirting with is now staring at you in horror and planning a get-away.
Lancome is only offering their Hypnose Drama in their specialty boutiques, which there are only five of in this nation. Luckily, there is one a little over half an hour away from me ... guess where I'm going tomorrow?

~* Top Of The Wishlist: La Prairie Life Threads Fragrance

by: Idabone

Thanksgiving dinner is almost here and that means that it's time to buy gifts for loved ones soon. And also to make your own wishlist known! The new La Prairie Life Threads fragrances is numero uno on mine.

I normal stay loyal to Tiffany's 'Pure Tiffany' perfume, but these new La Prairie Life Threads are just so enticing and sparkling that I may have to indulge in an illicit affair. I have an affinity for anything shiny (have I mentioned my I-was-a-crow-in-a-past-life theory yet...?) and these bottles are bling-ed out! But not in a J.Lo circa 2003 kind of way ***. It comes in Silver, Gold and Platinum and each one comes in a modern glass bottle and adorned in an organized disarray of metallic threads.

I want the Gold one. Really bad. But it's so pretty that I don't know if I could bring myself to use it.

It's little on the pricey side at $125.oo per bottle (compared to Tiffany's for $80), but maybe if I drop the hint enough times to the right people, I may just find it in my stocking come Christmas morning ...

~* Michael Antonio 'McKey' Patent Leather Ankle Boots

by: Idabone

Boots are in. In a big way. Sure, the Fall and Winter seasons have always been full of new boot styles to help you stay comfortably covered and chic against the cooler chill in the air, but boots lately have been taking all different kinds of risks in shape color and height. In the past Fall/ Winter seasons we've seen cute or classic leather boots in brown or black or the daring grey and most ended a inch or so below the knee. Some unflattering ones inexplicably cut out mid-calf and the thigh-high versions were usually left for hookers and super-heroes. Not anymore. Thigh-highs are in (aka OTK or 'Over-The-Knee' for those who haven't brushed up on their boot lingo lately ...) as well as their extreme counterparts, the Ankle Boot. Until this recent boot trend happened, ankle boots actually covered and added bulk to the ankle and could only really look good on girls who were super skinny, super tall, or both. These new and improved ankle boots aim to *show* the ankle, therefore keeping the integrity of a shapely leg and visually elongating the wearer.

You know who has some really hot ankle boots? Christian Louboutin! You know who totally and completely cannot afford those Louboutin ankle boots even if she was to max out all existing credit cards and send her car payment to collections instead? Me! It's ok because I found an equally sexy and lust-worthy ankle boot for 1/20 of the price ...

Michael Antonio 'McKey' Ankle Bootie

They're completely affordable, even for my broke ass ... and I love how flashy but versatile the shiny patent is. It shows the ankle so it's sexily stylish with a mini-dress and packs a powerful statement when worn with opaque tights or some edgy and unique leggings. The platform front and 4 3/4 inch heel are seductive, fashionable and add major leg length.
